ACE SETS RECORDS

AsiaCongress successfully completed the International Congress on Nutrition 2009

(11/11/2009)

After working with the Nutrition Association of Thailand (NAT) since 1999 to develop the winning bid to host ICN 2009, ACE completed the event on October 6 - a decade later.  "Conferences being a long term commitment, we started working on baby steps and got into full gear in 2007" said Marcel Ewals, Managing Director of AsiaCongress.  "We were able to set new records, which was really a great achievement".

RECORDS SET

ICN was the largest medical congress in Thailand and the only major congress organised by a Thailand based PCO.  ICN participation itself was a new record with 4,300 participants from 106 countries.

ICN had a record 2,677 abstracts that were received, processed and evalauated with the able conference management team of ACE.  ACE's conference manager in charge, Malou Guevarra, vividly recalls the huge team requirements to review and edit the documentation.  The IT backbone allowed international reviewers to review and rate the abstracts.

HRH Princess Sirindhorn of Thailand also set a new record by actively participating in the congress for 4 days, maling this a first in Thailand where a member of the Royal family participates for such a long time.  Protocol was fearce during the official opening, but mellowed on the following days.

ICN took the entire BITEC facility which covers more the 30,000 sqm of meeting facilities.
