"A decade of excellence in the meeting industry"

Contributing to Thailand’s Growth

Meetings Mean Progress

Note: the meetings industry is a distinct sector comprised of conventions, exhibitions and incentive travel.

Meetings are an important economic generator because:

  • Participants in these types of events typically have a higher expenditure than any other type of visitor
  • Their economic benefits are widely dispersed throughout many parts of the host countries economy.
  • They are labor intensive and therefore generate significant employment.
  • Meetings act as vehicles for trade and investment and as a showcase for local science, technology, services and products.

By bringing in an expected 5,000 international delegates to Thailand for 2009, AsiaCongress Events Co., Ltd. contributes an estimated 550 million baht in revenue to the local meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition (MICE) and tourism industry.

This is based on estimates from TCEB regarding average daily spending of a Conference delegate and the economic multiplier applied to costs of staging and organizing a large international event.
