Our Team


Marcel Ewals, Managing Director

Marcel Ewals has 20 years of experience in the Meetings Industry and has been in Asia since 1992.  He is a graduate in Hotel Management from a Swiss hotel school and started his career working for Relais & Chateax luxury hotels.  

Marcel is currently involved in several companies under the PICO Group related to event management. He is Director of the World Events Organization- a corporate group within PICO, Managing Director of AsiaCongress in Bangkok, and Director in Kenes Asia, a Medical PCO venture with leading organizers Kenes International.  

Marcel is a true entrepreneur who enjoys starting new ventures in the MICE industry, loves assisting troubled events in re-strategizing and marketing and driving technology applications.  He regularly lectures in event management in various universities and is active in several industry associations.


Jon Fretter, General Manager
 
Jon graduated in Leisure Management in Swansea, UK and has worked in the event industry for over 8 years. With almost a decade of experience under his belt  Jon has managed a wide range of events including; televised music awards, product launches, fashion shows, royal ceremonies, concerts, international food festivals, trade and consumer exhibitions, weddings, and celebrity parties.  
Now based in Bangkok, Thailand Jon is using his skills and experience to develop and manage key accounts for AsiaCongress and managing the operations of the show.   

Barbara Tandog, Director, Energy and allied Industries

Barbara is a 15 year veteran in the industry, especially the energy markets.  She has been key in managing CEO events such as CEPSI, GASEX and GASTECH over the last 10 years and is familiar with the industries.  She is a top analyst for industry trends and an expert networker.  She is together with Marcel the driving part of the creative output of conference programs and style changes throughout many of the events AsiaCongress manages.

Barbara was an assistant to a Congressman for several years and was involved in the establishment of many ventures such as telecoms companies, real estate developments and activities in the leisure industry.  She is a graduate of the University of the Philippines, Diliman in Hotel Management and worked for a few years in the resort industry.

Sharon S. Mascariñas, Head, Conference 
 
Sharon has been in the conference and exhibition management industry for the past twelve years and has successfully marketed and organized events at national, regional and international levels across all industries. 
 
She began her events management career in Manila and has since then lived and worked in Thailand, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. Prior to working in this industry, Sharon worked as a writer and editor for three years in a Metro Manila-based company.
 
Sharon graduated with honors from the University of the Philippines and was on her way towards earning a Master’s degree in Development Management from the same university before being offered an opportunity to work in Thailand.
 

Ma. Elale “Lala” Baldelovar, International Project Manager
 
Lala graduated Political Science from Silliman University and has completed her academic units in Master in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines, Manila. She worked for seven years as Project Development Officer of the Philippine General Hospital of the University of the Philippines, Manila. She has more than three years experience as event stylist and wedding coordinator with her own company in the Philippines. She has more than four years experience in sales and events management.  
 
At AsiaCongress, she has close to two years experience in international project and conference management, managing the rice events like Postharvest and flagship event the International Rice Congress.
